OENODIA IS THE OENOLOGY DIVISION OF EURODIA INDUSTRIE S.A., ONE OF THE WORLD’S LEADING SPECIALISTS IN MEMBRANE-BASED PROCESSES FOR THE AGRI-FOOD INDUSTRY.
Eurodia was set up in 1988 by its current chairman, Bernard Gillery, and is based at Pertuis (in Vaucluse, France). It has a presence on five continents and is today a market leader in the sugar, dairy and cheese industries.
Eurodia became involved in the wine-making industry in the 1990’s when, while working closely with the National Agricultural Research Institute (Institut National de Recherche Agronomique – INRA), their engineers adapted an innovative and high-performance solution to address the challenges of Tartaric Stabilization: Electrodialysis (now called STARS). This discovery led to the establishment of OENODIA as a wine division and the STARS technique remains unique and exclusive to OENODIA today. Electrodialysis is based on a controlled and measured extraction of potassium, calcium and tartrates and it is estimated that 4% of wine produced worldwide today is stabilized using OENODIA’s technology.
The Natural Choice
The Research & Development department at OENODIA has continued to develop new membrane-based treatments such as the exclusive eco-process for wine pH adjustment using Electrodialysis, as well as a wide range of alcohol-removal equipment and the most recent addition to the STARSXF, which combines crossflow filtration with their STARS technology.
